List of Sega Genesis/CD/32X pack-ins/bundles

Seeing as we're a multi-regioned community, this includes all regions.

Off the top of my head, and to list the obvious ones:

- Pre-TMSS Genny 1 w/1 control pad and "Altered Beast" (U.S: Fall 1989-Mid 1991)



- Pre AND post-TMSS Genny 1 w/1 control pad and "Sonic The Hedgehog" (U.S: Mid-1991-1992)

- "Sega Genesis Fighting System" (Genny 1 w/1 control pad and "Streets of Rage 2"), U.S: Winter 1992/1993?

- Genesis 1 Core System, 1 control pad & no game (U.S: circa-1992-mid 1993)

- Genesis 2 Core System, 1 control pad & no game (mid-1993-1996)



- Genesis 2 Sonic System (1 control pad and "Sonic The Hedgehog 2"), mid-late 1993-1994

- Genesis 2 NFL System (1 control pad, "NFL '94 Starring Joe Montana" and some weird schwag), circa-1994

It's after 1993-1994 that the Genny's pack-ins became harder to keep up with, as Sega threw together many bundles during 1994-1995 to possibly clear out their remaining hardware/software stock...........like the late-gen Genny 2 "6-Pak" bundle!:



Oh, and as far as Japan goes, the only Japanese bundles I know of are:

- "Mega Dorive Prus 1" (Mega Drive +1): Presumably post-TMSS MD1 packed in w/ 1 controller and "Sonic The Hedgehog" (mid-late 1991). Just check the end of this Japanese S1 commercial on YouTube (is there any way to embed YT videos on these boards?):

I'm not well-versed in SCD/32X pack-ins so I thought you guys could help. Right?

There was the Sonic 3 + Sonic & Knuckles pack-in. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't The Jungle Book packed in at one point? Could very well be wrong about that one... I think Comix Zone was a pack-in at one point too, but again, my memory is shakey here.

As for Sega CD -- Sewer Shark, then later Tomcat Alley. Those are the only two I know of.

32X had one pack-in that I know of -- DOOM.

As for years, I can't help you there!

I still have the box to my genesis 2 and it came with Columns as a pack in. I think that was either christmas of 94 or 95 although im fairly certain it was 95.

Ah, I thought I was the only one who knew of the ultra-obscure Sonic 3+Sonic & Knuckles pack-in. 34 MEGA POWER of PWN packed in with a Genny 2? I'm wondering how the hell that bundle didn't fly off store shelves or was advertised more. Must've been Sega's response to Nintendo's SNES "Donkey Kong" Set from circa-1995, with 32 Megs of ACM-powered "Donkey Kong Country" packed in.

I wonder how that Sonic 3 & Knuckles bundle looked inside. I mean, did both games come complete w/box and all? How would a cardboard S&K box be preserved inside a Genny box?

That pack-in deal is as obscure as the Majesco Genesis 2, in that I can't find further info or pics on them!

Well, I Germany there was a set with Sonic the Hedgehog (no )TMSS...
In 1993 came the Mega Drive Magnum Set with Mega Games 1 (Super Hang On, World Cup Italia 92, Columns).

The Mega CD 2 came bundled with Road Avenger.

Later there was a bundle with Aladdin too....a ToyStory-Bundle was planned too, but Nintendo successfully prevented the MD version to be released.

I too wish to see that Sonic 3 & Knuckles pack-in, just because it'd be odd to see 2 games in one. How much did it run for roughly?

And there was a special edition for The Lion King, with the whole box taking on a jungle theme.

Here, I found an old ad for the Magnum Set. It even had a second joypad and Sonic as fourth game included.

There is a Toy Story Bundle, at least it was sold in the UK anyway, here it is as well as some others:

oh the days when consoles came with a couple games and TWO controllers!

Maybe it was only in Germany, but Nintendo got an exclusive deal about Toy Story here, so it was never released in my Empire.
But I must say I am surprised: non of the boxes you posted is known to me. Maybe the UK had entirely different bundles and marketing...

No there's a Majesco Genesis 3, but there is also an obscure and I guess pretty rare model 2 they put out. The most noticable difference from looking at it is that it has a slider to power it on like the model 1's instead of a push button which you find on the model 2's. Someone here posted a picture of one recently Im sure they know a lot more about it.
