A great shmup (and an expensive one) Gleylancer is an awesome experience. Read the full review and see!

nice game but far to easy
and really not worth the price
but i think non of the games is worth paying 150 euro for
this is a game for a emulator first play it and if you really want it in your collection and think it s worth the price
luckily i bought it for 10 euro on a marketplace
but i played it out and never played it again
    give me thunderforce 3 instead

Too hard like Truxton? I think Truxton is easy.

Why is Truxton even a point of comparison? It's dull. But then I'm still disappointed it's not about trains, or a town filled with wooden firemen, or something.

I really enjoy how colorful and detail this game is. Not as challenges as other shmups that I've seen on the MD, but still worthy to get.

Thunderblaze16 you bastard! Your little bug picture in your signature fooled me for a while. I was actually wondering for a second or two if it was really a bug in my screen or if I was going crazy.

Nah, the bug is moving at a lower frame rate than what a real one moves like.

This is a good game, but a lot of the backgrounds are too bland. Some are nice, some aren't. That's my main gripe. Some of the level design gets pretty interesting as it goes on. If it was more consistent, I would think more of it. It is a quality shmup though.

The long and beautiful anime-like intro with its rocking sountrack already makes you feel you're in for a hell of a time.

Press start, select between 7 types of mover system (I suck at shooters despite liking them, even the easier ones: it's Search mode for me) and get greeted with some parallax scrolling goodness and a Sunsoft like-soundtrack that will make you want to dance along. Enemies are big and and there's no slowdown even if you put your ship at full speed. That said, sometimes there's a bit of a flicker fest and there are so many things moving around on-screen that you will suffer many cheap deaths. They say this is easy, but it's kicking my ass. Maybe, after all, is not that bad to suck at shooters: They're still challenging to me.

How this wonderful game (mind you, there are better shooters on our system, but this one is VERY good) didn't make it to the West I don't know, but now, with a simple hack, you can play it in English. So believe in your power: you have no excuse unless you don't like shooters or you're looking for the real thing (AFAIK, it's very expensive) and prefer to wait. You can even get a remastered edition on modern systems.

Masaya deserves more recognition, then and now, both in MD and SNES.

I know Gleylancer is rated highly among its fan, but imo it's underrated. What a great Genesis shooter, and top class for hori shooters.
