Default ToeJam & Earl 2 in Panic on Funkotron

Our latest review details the second adventure of our favorite alien duo. Panic on Funkotron goes in a different direction than the original and many people got turned off by it. I thought it was pretty cool but there was just something missing.

You can read our review here.

    Great review.
People don't usually give this game the respect it deserves.

lol, This is why Sega is so cool. Who else would allow the word "FUNKOTRON" in one of their titles......Genius!

I wanted to like this game seeing how i loved the first one,
but i have a great dislike towards it, why one might wonder?
well not because the game is bad, its colorful and well animated and
even though its not the same kinda gameplay as the first game it gets the job done.

No, the reason i don't like the game is because i'm European and thus got the pal conversion,
which was sadly optimized for 50hz and thus does not benefit from my 60hz switch.

though there is little optimization to be found here, the game is slow and squished for us PAL users.

Maybe someday i'll bother to import a US copy of this just so i can experience
    it the way
it was meant to be experienced.

This is absolutely true. I dare say this remains the best ToeJam & Earl game of the three main ones since the gameplay is solid, the characters are great, but most importantly Funkatron is just such a fun and interesting place. I love the dialogue from the Funkatronians and all the back and forth with Peebo and the rest.

I like this one better than the original, it plays a lot better. The original seems boring and slow-paced, this one is a good 2D platformer.

I've been playing this a lot lately. It is incredible, one of the best titles I've played yet on the Genesis. I've never played the original, but this is easily one of the best co-op games of all time. Maybe only World of Illusion is better because you have to help each other out to solve problems more.

Just a heads up, 'heroes' is misspelled near the beginning of the third paragraph. There should be another 'e'.

Yeah this game is awesome. The voice samples are priceless, and you can do some great combo attacks in 2-player when you're both "in the zone".

We went from the literal randomness and focus on exploration of the first part to the epic platforming of this second: visually gorgeous, sounds even better than its predecessor and may not be as funny, but it's longer and I would dare to say more challenging. Attacking living urbanite sterotypes with jars is oddly satisfying (or maybe not that oddly).
Not better nor worse that the first part: just a different game that happens to be from the same franchise.

I'm also in the group a Fan's who thinks this is much better than the first one. It may be that I played this one first or just that I think it's a better game. I just had so much fun completing this game. It's definitely challenging but the atmosphere is perfect and it's so engrossing. Years later my wife loved playing this with me as well. I need to go back and replay this again. Great times for sure! There isn't a bad game in this franchise

Now this is a great game! I loved the music, the gameplay and the concept. I also love the bit at the end of each level where you have a sort of dance off against a friend who is teaching you new stuff. This predates Parappa The Rappa which, I think, was partially inspired by Panic on Funkotron, at least for the music aspect.
