    Whoa Cannon Fodder

The Amiga has definitely lived up to its namesake where the Genesis is concerned. It's been quite the friendly machine, providing many quality games that made the jump to the little 16-bitter. Some though, lent themselves better to the conversion than others, and a few have issues that really affect the experience. Take Cannon Fodder, for instance. The tiny sprites and status box really hampered what was otherwise an exceptional version of a classic game. It's still playable, but how much so will depend on how good your vision is. The intro of the original version of the game on the Amiga (CD32) even had a funny movie of Monty Python-like English soldiers while the catchy "War has never been so much fun" song was used as background music (this intro is not included in the Genesis/Mega Drive edition).
The intro and music (Lyrics and all) was also used in the Game Boy Color version. A little tidbit I'd like to point out.

I've never had a problem with the size of the sprites in this game. From the looks of it, what you're describing is enemies hiding behind the terrain or being camouflage colored. Those would be hard to spot even if they were twice the size they are.

The main problem really is the lack of mouse support, because in the later levels it is impossible to move the pointer quickly enough to win. It's like being stuck on 50% speed in Thunder Force IV.

Better late than never, but the game does have mouse support (thank god).

The sprites are the exact same size on Mega Drive than the are on Amiga and MS-DOS.
The Mega Drive was far inferior to the NES in terms of diffusion rate and sales in the Japanese market, though there were ardent Sega users. But in the US and Europe, we knew Sega could challenge Nintendo. We aimed at dominating those markets, hiring experienced staff for our overseas department in Japan, and revitalising Sega of America and the ailing Virgin group in Europe.

Then we set about developing killer games.

I remember having this game for Atari Lynx, it was so amazing with its voice audio.
