Not content to bring its arcade classic, Darius, to Sega’s 16-bit mini console release, M2 further refined the game for a full-blown cartridge release called Darius Extra Version. The game improves several areas significantly, making it more robust than arcade original and offering Genesis owners perhaps the seminal version of Darius.
Taito’s legendary Darius series already appeared on Genesis with the sequel, known as Sagaia outside Japan. The original game finally appeared in 2019 for the Mega Drive Mini, and it was based on a proof-of-concept by a homebrew developer. It’s now possible to play the first Darius on your Genesis, and it’s an incredible game well worth spending time with.
Namco, one of the big names in video gaming, developed Starblade for the Sega CD in 1992. It’s highly addictive and certainly true to the source material despite all the hardware limitations. If you’re a rail shooter fan, this is a game you must play
