Cannon Spike
Despite its simple premise and short duration, Cannon Spike is a Dreamcast favorite. It combined frantic bullet action with large bosses to give players a quick burst of adrenaline. The high is a short one, but it’s definitely one worth pursuing, especially with a second player along.
ChuChu Rocket
The Dreamcast’s first online game wasn’t perhaps what people wanted, but the creative geniuses at Sonic Team gave them the one they deserved. ChuChu Rocket doesn’t show off the console’s power but provides hours of fun that can be enjoyed off or online.
Sonic Adventure
After an absence on the Saturn, Sonic returned on the Dreamcast with a new platform adventure. It was hailed and welcomed by many at the time, but the Blue Blur still had a lot of adjusting to do in the third dimension. A disjointed plot and a problematic camera keep Sonic’s first proper 3D outing from being a true classic.
Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue
Buzz Lightyear certainly went “to infinity and beyond” on the Dreamcast. His 3D adventure was a surprisingly good licensed romp that shouldn’t be overlooked. There are expansive levels, great puzzles, and engaging boss battles in this excellent port that deserves a spot on your shelf.
