Like battling it out with a friend using massive weapons of destruction? Eager to crush your foes beneath your heel (and hear the lamentation of their women)? Well, there’s no more a testosterone-ridden way to do it than with gun-toting invertebrates? Sounds great, huh? Unfortunately, Ocean’s port of the PC classic Worms seems to be packing blanks, as this port lacks almost everything that made the game so great.
Dune: The Battle for Arrakis
The real-time strategy genre is huge today, but back in the early 90s, consoles were only beginning to taste the addicting tactical fun they delivered. The Genesis is fortunate to be home to some of the pioneers in the genre, including Dune II: Battle for Arrakis.
Herzog Zwei
Technosoft was one of the truly great videogame studios. Based in Japan, they are best known for their brilliantly innovative shoot-em-ups, their careful attention to visual detail, and their unforgettable musical scores. They hit their creative peak in the early ’90s on the Sega Genesis: the masterful Thunder Force series; the surprisingly clever Elemental Master; a superb rendition of the best video pinball game ever made, Devil’s Crush. And early in the Genesis’ life span lay a little gem called Herzog Zwei.
