PC gamers know Star Control well. They’ve been playing it and its stellar sequels for years. Console owners have had to make due with only the original game, which was ported to the Genesis in 1991. Deep and addictive, it still holds up today, making it an essential part of any Genesis library.

The quality of Spencer Nilsen’s Ecco the Dolphini scores is undeniable. Haunting yet inviting, they soothe and offer the perfect picture of what life under the sea must sound like. Todd’s Adventures in Slime World first debuted on the Atari Lynx but was eventually ported to the Genesis. I guess people just couldn’t get enough of dark, slimy environments filled with nasty creatures. Hmm, not everyone has a gas station restroom nearby, I guess!
Ball Jacks
Every time I think we’ve seen it all on the Genesis, some rare game comes along and surprises us. Ball Jacks is one of those titles that comes out of nowhere. Unfortunately, it seems that it was lost in import limbo for a good reason, as the premise is perhaps its best feature. That’s a shame, as the thought of space crabs batting around huge, metallic balls sounds almost too cool to pass up.
