As popular as they were in the mid ’90s, it was only a matter of time before Beavis & Butthead made their way to consoles. Their Genesis adventure wasn’t half bad, if you were a fan of the show. Filled with inside jokes and toilet humor, the game had little appeal to those who didn’t appreciate the duo’s brand of humor. Fans, however, loved it.

Such was not the case with Interplay’s Star Trek Starfleet Academy: Starship Bridge Simulator, which lost most of its charm when it made the jump to the 32X. Hmm, what have we here? A 32-bit add-on that promises all the bells and whistles, and one of its first titles is a half-baked port of one of the big killer apps of the era? Not quite the best way to introduce hardware. Yeah, it’s playable, but it’s also not full-screen and it’s missing levels. Buckle up friends and check out our review of Doom 32X, and don’t say we didn’t warn you.
Sega Gear: Sega Remote Arcade System
Chances are, you’ve at one time or another wanted to escape the confines of your Genesis pad’s cord. While not short by any means, it can still be more restrictive than it should. You’ve probably also considered getting a wireless pad, but don’t find the technology of the time very enticing. Perhaps then, you should give Sega’s Remote Arcade System a shot, as it’s by far one of the best wireless controllers to come out during the 16-bit period.
