There was a lot of potential with Galactic Protector, but Sega didn’t seem to know what to do with it. It requires the Japan-only Paddle Control to play, but it somehow makes using it a chore. Instead of bringing a new level of depth to the gameplay beyond what the standard controller offers, it suffers from some bewildering restrictions that make the game harder to play and a lot less fun.

Astro Climber
Badcomputer is back with another rock-solid Master System release that harkens back to the simple yet addictive Sega Card games of old. Astro Climber is super fun and challenging title that is going to keep you in your seat and glued to the TV. It’s also as affordable as it is engaging, so there’s no excuse to not get it and platform like it’s 1986.
Frontier Force
A new independent title bring single-screen shooting action to the Master System. Frontier Force is a top-down, single-screen twitch shmup that’s great to play when you’ve got the urge to beat the top score. Great presentation and gameplay make this short-but-sweet experience one you’ll want to own, and it’s going to have a physical release!
Wonder Boy III: The Dragon’s Trap
Westone expanded on the action/RPG turn taken by Wonder Boy in Monster World by adding a larger world and multiple character transformations. The result was a classic sequel that, despite some linear design and cryptic mechanics, remains one of the Master System’s best titles.
Action Fighter
Action Fighter tried to be the Master System’s answer to Bally/Midway’s Spy Hunter, but it lacked the same charm and excitement. The result is an average game that doesn’t quite live up to its name. “Average Fighter” would perhaps have been a more accurate moniker.
