At one time it seemed like the only way to find a decent game with the Acclaim logo was to look for one that belonged to another company, and even then it was hit or miss. Under the Flying Edge banner, the company did manage to produce some decent software, and along with successful arcade ports like NBA Jam, Acclaim made some strides towards decency. Another port it tossed our way was that of Williams incredibly popular Smash T.V. Adding a “super” to the name, it wasn’t as pretty or customizable as its SNES sibling, but there was still much fun to be had.

Alien 3
In space, no one can hear you scream. From your living room, however, the entire neighborhood can partake in your vented frustration at Alien 3. They will all know your pain at running out of ammunition or totally failing to locate that last damn prisoner. Arena’s licensed thriller is a chest-bursting, face-hugging orgy of challenge that will have you masochistically coming back for more. That’s what happens when good platforming action is combined with maddening difficulty. It’s a good thing then, that Genesis controllers are so inexpensive. We’re here for you though, and reading our full review will show you why Ripley really ended up bald: she pulled her hair out trying to pass the slaughterhouse level.
Incredible Hulk
Those who have played Radical Entertainment’s awesome Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction probably don’t remember an older game bearing the Incredible title, namely U.S. Gold’s stinker on the Genesis. This little gem exists in a world where the Hulk is hurt by bullets and takes a pill to turn into Bruce Banner, and where a pool of water means certain death. Yes, I’m serious. We were offered the choice of taking the full brunt of a Gamma bomb blast or reviewing The Incredible Hulk, and trust us, the review won by only the slimmest of margins. Read the full article and try to imagine the famous Lonely Man theme playing in the background as your desire to play the game slowly walks off into the sunset.
Terminator 2: The Arcade Game
So your Menacer is collecting dust, and you’re wondering why the heck you got one in the first place. Though unlikely, it’s possible that you let Terminator 2: The Arcade Game slip under your radar. A pretty decent conversion of the arcade hit, it’s actually quite playable with Sega’s unwieldy weapon of light, and it’s quite inexpensive nowadays.
Back to the Future Part III
Sometimes, a game comes along that totally justifies the stigma attached to licensed titles. We’re talking utter trash here, and a few releases can be quickly named when one is asked to mention which ones stand out the most (anyone remember LJN’s abysmal X-Men game for the NES?). Back to the Future Part III is a card-carrying member of that sorry list.
