After an absence on the Saturn, Sonic returned on the Dreamcast with a new platform adventure. It was hailed and welcomed by many at the time, but the Blue Blur still had a lot of adjusting to do in the third dimension. Sonic had some special outings on the Game Gear, and they rank all over the spectrum of quality. Sonic Chaos was one release that had potential but that got bogged down by high difficulty, and repetitive gameplay. It’s still worth playing, and being a common title makes it easy to acquire. It’s not Sonic’s best effort, but it isn’t his worst, either.
The most popular installment in the classic Sonic franchise came to Android and Apple devices in 2013, before Sega revamped its mobile line with the Sega Forever brand.
