The Avengers assembled on the Game Gear, but something didn’t make it to the meeting. The game tries to mimic its more powerful console and arcade siblings, and while some of that does make it through, a lot of what made the original game so much fun gets lost in the translation. Maybe someone should call the X-Men next time.

Defenders of Oasis
RPG fans looking for some adventure on their Game Gear should give Defenders of Oasis a try. Despite some basic design flaws, it has an interesting quest and a stellar presentation that are worth sinking some hours into. It’s not Phantasy Star, but it has its own charm, and there’s enough here to keep you coming back.
Crime Patrol
The Sega CD has a vast library of FMV games, and while most tend to associate the machine with Digital Pictures, other companies produced titles as well. American Laser Games contributed several games, including the hilariously campy Crime Patrol. It’s goofy FMV action at its best!
Reader Roundtable Vol. 117
Don’t let the odd weather fool you! It’s still perfectly fine to stay inside and play all those great games you’ve been meaning to get around to. December is a great time of year to catch up on the ol’ Pile of Shame, and hopefully you were all nice enough this year to get some of the games on your want list. Check out what our staff and readers have been playing this month and see if Santa treated them better than he did you!
GP Rider
Racing games can be fun on a handheld, especially when they’re part of Sega’s legendary motorcycle series. GP Rider manages to bring all the fun of the Hang-On games to the Game Gear, making this another quality title to add to your library. Don’t miss it!
