The real-time strategy genre is huge today, but back in the early 90s, consoles were only beginning to taste the addicting tactical fun they delivered. The Genesis is fortunate to be home to some of the pioneers in the genre, including Dune II: Battle for Arrakis.

Bubsy II
Sonic the Hedgehog ushered in a new age of mascots with attitude, and the world has yet to fully recover. One of the more guilty parties is Bubsy, Accolade’s pantless bobcat. In a total of two underwhelming adventures on the Genesis, he singlehandedly showed us why cash-run mascots are the work of the devil.
Crusader of Centy
They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. If that is true, then The Legend of Zelda must be beet-red right now. Atlus’ Crusader of Centy is a direct homage to Nintendo’s classic franchise, but with a few twists to avoid a lawsuit. It’s still a great game, and we have a full review to tell you why.
World Series Baseball
Fans of Take Two’s Major League Baseball 2K5 may or may not remember that the series has its roots in BlueSky Software’s incredible World Series Baseball franchise, which had several installments on the Genesis before reaching the pinnacle of perfection with World Series Baseball ’98 on the Saturn.
Phantasy Star IV: End of the Millennium
Some say it’s the best in the series. Some say it’s the best Genesis RPG ever made. However you feel about it, there’s no denying that Phantasy Star IV is the a monster of a finale that sent the original storyline out with one hell of a bang.
