ESPN Baseball Tonight

With all the different baseball games on the Genesis, it’s quite possible to skip over a few. For many players, Sports Talk Baseball or World Series Baseball are all that’s needed, but there are some good alternatives out there. ESPN’s entry, for instance, may be unremarkable, but it’s a solid game worth playing with a friend.

RDF: Global Conflict

Just because the Cold War has ended doesn’t mean we still can’t defend U.S. interests through the barrel of a gun! Well, we can in spirit, anyway. Absolute Entertainment’s first-person action title for the Sega CD tires to continue the fight with some mission-based combat, but it falls short in some key areas. Still, it might be worth checking out for those looking for a new disc to spin in their machines.

Head-On Soccer

Despite what many people think, there are actually quality soccer games out there that don’t begin with “FIFA.” Case in point: U.S. Gold released a very playable title that featured quick, arcade-like gameplay and an isometric perspective. Though flawed, Head-On Soccer presents a solid alternative for those who don’t want the simulation style found in EA’s series.

Stargate

Licensed games are usually horrible, but sometimes a company finds a winning formula that actually does justice to the license it uses. A good example of this is Stargate,which is actually a great action romp that deserves more attention, despite the licensed game curse and the Acclaim logo on the cover.
