Batman Forever (Game Gear)

The Caped Crusader has long suffered a mixed history when it comes to video games. Some are good, and some are bad. Some, like Batman Forever, are downright horrible. Probe and Acclaim managed to distinguish themselves by making a terrible game across multiple platforms, and the Game Gear version is part of that unfortunate line.

Batman Returns (CD)

As a franchise, fewer characters have stronger legs than Batman. After twenty years, the fact that people are still looking forward to a new game featuring the Caped Crusader (Arkham Asylum looks incredible) is simply astonishing, considering just how spotty ol’ Batsy’s record has been. Back in the 16-bit era, Sega itself dove into the Batcave with both a cartridge and CD release of Batman Returns, and whether or not it landed on its head is still the subject of much-heated forum debates. Batman: Revenge of the Joker

For your gaming pleasure, today we have a review for Batman: Revenge of the Joker. Poor Bats never seems to get a fair shake, and his spotty gaming history is full of “could-have-beens,” including this one. Originally released on the NES, most people thought the Genesis port would take advantage of the more powerful hardware and offer the maximum experience. In reality, the NES game is better.

Batman Forever

There have been tons of Batman games over the years, but exactly how many were memorable? Not many, that’s for sure, and with turds like Batman Forever in that repertoire, it’s no surprise. Horribly repetitive gameplay and terrible character design make this a major contributor to Acclaim’s tarnished legacy.
