Bugs Bunny in Double Trouble

Bugs Bunny has something of a bad record when it comes to video game appearances. He’s certainly no Mickey Mouse. The trend of bad releases continued on the Genesis with Double Trouble, a game that suffers from frustrating level design and brutal difficulty. The developers definitely should have taken that left turn at Albuquerque.

Sonic Chaos (Game Gear)

Sonic had some special outings on the Game Gear, and they rank all over the spectrum of quality. Sonic Chaos was one release that had potential but that got bogged down by high difficulty, and repetitive gameplay. It’s still worth playing, and being a common title makes it easy to acquire. It’s not Sonic’s best effort, but it isn’t his worst, either.

Chuck Rock (Game Gear)

Virgin’s lovable caveman belly-flops his way onto the Game Gear, but he’s kind of devolved in the process. Instead of a Cro-Magnon hero, we instead got a Neanderthal who lumbers through dark and silent stages. While the core (no pun intended) of what made the Genesis game is intact, the presentation and gameplay have suffered.

Star Wars

The Star Wars saga explodes onto the Game Gear! Combining platforming action with vehicle stages, the game offers a decent reproduction of the movie. It’s not a perfect game, but the good seems to outweigh the bad, making it a decent addition to any Game Gear owner’s library.
