Mickey is usually well-known for his quality outings on Sega Consoles. The Illusion games are a fan favorite, but the third installment on the Game Gear began to show the series’ age. Lackluster compared to previous titles, it fails to bring anything new to the formula, and the result is definitely a step down.

Gunstar Heroes was an amazing game, and the Game Gear version is virtually as good as its Genesis counterpart. A Japanese exclusive, it received some changes that may not appeal to fans of the original. Still, it’s portable Gunstar! What more could you want?
Tails’ SkyPatrol
The Game Gear gave Sonic’s sidekick Tails a chance to shine, and he was featured in several different types of games. A Japanese exclusive, Tails’ SkyPatrol was a shooter that’s as short as it is colorful. It may not be a long ride, but what’s there is worth looking into.
Astérix
There were tons of quality Master System games that never came to North America. Among them was perhaps one of the best platformers on the console. Only released in Europe and Brazil, Astérix is everything you’d expect from an awesome Sega title and then some. Find yourself a copy NOW.
Lord Monarch: Tokoton Sentou Densetsu
Fans of the Shining Force series should definitely try out Lord Monarch. Despite the language barrier (there’s help for that online), the game is a solid entry into the strategy genre that is highly reminiscent of Sega’s seminal franchise.
