Not content to bring its arcade classic, Darius, to Sega’s 16-bit mini console release, M2 further refined the game for a full-blown cartridge release called Darius Extra Version. The game improves several areas significantly, making it more robust than arcade original and offering Genesis owners perhaps the seminal version of Darius.
Taito brought its Darius goodness to both the Genesis and the Master System (outside the U.S.), and the latter turned out to be a very good version. It’s lacking in some areas, but the overall essence of the game still shines through. Fans will want to try and catch this fish and give it a play.
Taito’s sword-wielding barbarian hacks his way onto the Master System! A port of the popular arcade classic, the 8-bit version went through some graphical and gameplay changes in the process, but it does a surprisingly good job of capturing all the fun of the original. This is one adventure you’ll want to go on!
America’s first cartoon family comes to the Genesis courtesy of Taito, in all their prehistoric glory. As licensed platformers go, it’s certainly not the best, but there are far worse games to spend your hard-earned clams on. Our only question is: why can’t we use Barney Rubble?
Chasing down bad guys is a video game staple. Ramming their cars into flaming husks before taking them down and slapping the cuffs on them makes it even more fun! Taito let Genesis owners play the long arm of the law in the exclusive Chase H.Q. II, and while it might not set the world on fire, it’s a game that’s worth spending some time with.
